Some of the city's top choices for visitors include:

Byrd Theater
2908 W Cary St, Richmond, VA 23221

The 1400-seat theater, named after William Byrd I and William Byrd II, founders of Richmond, Virginia, is one of Virginia's finest cinema treasures in the United States of America. It is fondly known as "Richmond's Movie Palace". Opened to great fanfare on December 24, 1928. The first audiences paid $0.50 for evening shows and $0.25 for matinees.

Shockoe Slip
12th and Main St, Richmond, VA 23219
+1 804 643 7407
Shockoe Slip is a collection of tobacco warehouses in which are located shops, restaurants, and offices. The name "slip" refers to the canal boat slips nearby where goods were loaded and unloaded. Shockoe Slip became developed as a commercial and entertainment district in the 1970s; it is centered around a 1909 fountain dedicated to "one who loved animals."

Museum of the Confederacy
1201 E Clay St, Richmond, VA 23219
+1 804 649 1861
The Museum of the Confederacy's rich collection of civilian and military Civil War artifacts relating to the Confederate States of America, as well as the post-war "Lost Cause" era, is a valuable resource for the study of the role of the Confederacy in the War and in our society today.

Fan District
W Main St and N Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220
The Fan is a district so named because of the "fan" shape of the roads that extend west from Belvedere St., on the eastern edge of Monroe Park, westward to Boulevard. The Fan is one of the easterly points to the city's Westend section, and is bordered to the north by Broad St and to the south by Cary Street. Many cafes and locally owned restaurants are located here, as well as historic Monument Avenue.
